Representative Director
Mamoru Nagai

What were the reasons for deciding to accept them?

Formwork construction is often a team effort, so I believe it's well-suited to accepting workers on a regular basis. Before accepting workers, I visited educational institutions in Vietnam and saw that they were providing solid training for formwork carpenters, so I decided to accept them, thinking, "This will work."

What were the benefits of accepting it?

Vietnamese people are truly diligent and have a strong desire to learn their jobs. Furthermore, they proactively approach Japanese foremen and senior colleagues on site. As a result, the Japanese respond enthusiastically by teaching them, creating a very positive work environment where employees cooperate with each other.

What measures or precautions do you take after accepting them?

I thought it would be more convenient for them to live somewhere I could keep an eye on, so I converted the upper floors of our company building into dormitories for them. In the end, I think it was the right decision because it deepened the interaction between the Japanese employees and the residents, with Japanese employees often stopping by their rooms when they returned from work. Also, to help them learn the language quickly, I had them attend a local language class on weekends where I volunteered to teach Japanese.

Please send a message to companies planning to implement this system.

With the establishment of Specified Skilled Worker System, which allows foreigners to work in Japan for longer periods, it's now possible to provide thorough, time-based training rather than cramming information into short sessions. This makes it crucial to create an environment where foreigners, each with their own goals, can work and live with peace of mind. I hope that communication will focus on long-term development.

Voices from those working on-site

I want to be of service to the company that has worked so hard to welcome us.

TRIEU was the first person in Japan to receive Specified Skilled Worker (ii) visa for formwork construction. He is known for being very considerate, and when he first came to Japan, he invited Mr. Yoshikawa, who had been taking care of him, to his room and treated him to Vietnamese food. Mr. Yoshikawa was deeply moved by this. His current goal is "to be entrusted with more difficult work." He aims for even greater heights in order to repay the company for its support.

He's polite and considerate; he could definitely achieve even more!

TRIEU has exceptional communication skills. On set, she quickly makes friends with people from other departments and shares laughs with them. From what I've seen, she's talkative, not easily intimidated, and very polite. She's also very considerate of her superiors. She does all of this naturally, so I have no worries about her. I'm confident that if she continues at this pace, she'll be able to achieve even greater things.

Toshikazu Kanda
The conversations we had in the dormitory led to our current teamwork.

The first thing that changed when they came from Vietnam was the atmosphere in the office. Even though their language skills were limited, they tried their best to communicate, which brightened the mood. We also used to go to their dorms after work and chat with them. When we had to correct them at work, we would bring beer to their rooms and discuss ways to improve. I think those times helped to foster teamwork.
