Representative Director
Toshiyuki Tezuka

What were the reasons for deciding to accept them?

Before we started accepting workers, our own skilled workers were in their prime working years, and we weren't short on manpower. However, we were beginning to feel that we would inevitably face a shortage of workers in the future. That's when we learned about this program, and while we were wondering which country to accept workers from, a client told us that "Indonesians are honest, pro-Japanese, and hardworking," so we made our decision immediately.

What were the benefits of accepting it?

Currently, we have 17 Specified Skilled Worker, which is significantly more than the number of Technical Intern Training interns. In other words, they are working hard as the mainstay of our company. In our case, about 60% of workers transition from Technical Intern Training to Specified Skills, so we have a very stable flow in terms of securing human resources.

What measures or precautions do you take after accepting them?

I always make it a point to keep my promises to them. For example, if I tell them that the company will provide something, such as allowances or transportation expenses, I never let it slide. Money matters in particular can lead to major problems and would be a betrayal, causing me to lose their trust. If I forget a promise and they point it out, I make sure to apologize properly.

Please send a message to companies planning to implement this system.

Most foreign workers leave their families behind in their home countries. They cherish their families, so in that sense, it's extremely important to listen to their thoughts about the future in order to encourage them to stay longer. Based on that, we need to consider what kind of support we can provide. Creating an environment where they can envision their future in this country is also a key to successful acceptance.

AHMAD
Touched by the kindness of my senior colleagues, I decided I wanted to continue working in Japan for a long time.

AHMAD, who first came to Japan more than 10 years ago, is a "Japanophile" who has even climbed Mount Fuji. "I had a terrible experience when a typhoon hit while I was at the summit at night." The reason he has worked at Tezuka Construction for so long is the kindness of the people at the company. "When I had a high fever, a senior colleague came all the way to my apartment and took me to the hospital. I was so grateful." He is currently studying hard to pass the N1 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

I want to make my wife, who was waiting for me in Indonesia, happy!

ASEP, who loves Japanese anime, says he's learning Japanese by watching hit titles and classic masterpieces. "It's much more effective than textbooks." He came to Japan in 2017, leaving his girlfriend behind in Indonesia, and happily married her in January 2023. "I want to work even harder in Japan to make my wife, who waited for me for four years, happy," he said with a serious look in his eyes, expressing his determination.

My dream is to start a bioethanol business in Indonesia!

RIDHO has a big dream: to start a business in Indonesia that manufactures bioethanol. "Once I save 3 million yen, I'm going to buy rice paddies and a tractor to grow the rice that will be used as the raw material for bioethanol." What he's passionate about is futsal. He gets together with his friends on weekends and works up a sweat, saying, "There's really nothing better than being able to move my body."
