Takeshi Kashiwakura

What were the reasons for deciding to accept them?

It all started when we began accepting Chinese workers due to concerns about a labor shortage. Later, we established a cooperative relationship with a Vietnamese construction company, and when that company requested that our employees learn Japanese technology, we began continuously accepting their personnel through an internship program. This was an ideal partnership, as it not only stabilized our acceptance of workers but also led to international cooperation. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, we are now accepting workers through open recruitment.

What were the benefits of accepting it?

What surprised me most when I saw them on-site was their sheer honesty and extraordinary diligence. I was struck by their positive attitude and desire to learn quickly in every task. This, in turn, influenced the other Japanese employees, and I think it changed the overall approach to work.

What measures or precautions do you take after accepting them?

Initially, we paid close attention to safety. For example, we made sure that the workers understood the phrases on the safety signs around the site, such as "Watch your step" and "Beware of falling objects," before they entered the site. However, honestly, it's very difficult to convey this using only Japanese. So, we used Vietnamese and illustrations, and repeatedly explained the meaning and pronunciation in a picture-story show style.

Please send a message to companies planning to implement this system.

Our work is physically demanding, and we always need two or three people on site. While we sometimes travel between sites to provide support, Specified Skilled Worker spontaneously suggest sending someone from our site to help out if another site seems busy, which is incredibly helpful. It's impossible for Japanese workers not to be inspired by their thoughtfulness towards their colleagues. They are sure to play a vital role in providing insights and learning opportunities.

HOANG
As people from countries that value family, let's have more fun together!

HOANG a trusted senior colleague at the company, known for her competence. As the construction manager, she oversees the site while also brightening the atmosphere with her cheerful personality. During the Lunar New Year, she even organizes a dinner party where she invites Japanese people and serves Vietnamese food. "Vietnamese people value family above all else, and I'm sure Japanese people feel the same way. So, we should be able to become friends outside of work as well. A brighter work environment makes life more enjoyable." HOANG is surrounded by smiles.

Akuri Yumoto
There is so much we can learn from the hardworking Vietnamese people.

HOANG is fluent in Japanese, has passed the Level 1 Concrete pressure feeding Grade 1 of the National Trade Skill Test & Certification, and is an excellent employee who handles site management meetings with site supervisors on her own. Vietnamese people are generally hardworking and capable of succeeding even in foreign countries, so there is much to learn from them. Also, because their values and cultures are different, interacting with them not only fosters flexibility in thinking but also brings diversity to the company. When you think about it, welcoming them has nothing but benefits.
