I decided to go to Japan with an eye on the future.
I worked as a convenience store clerk for about a year and a half, but I quit due to the low pay and my desire for overseas experience. Although I didn't know much about Japan, I decided to take the plunge and try working here, believing it would be a stepping stone to my future career.
Twenty people participated in the group interview, and WIRAHMANA to pass. She will come to Japan in April 2014.
I got a job at Niizuma Steel Industry and started in the processing plant.
Technical Intern Trainee are assigned to processing plants and start with manual labor. In their first year, they didn't know how to do the work, so they worked with their Indonesian senior colleagues. They also learned about shopping locations and methods from their seniors, but at the time, halal food was scarce, so they struggled with food and their meals mainly consisted of fried chicken and fish.
Having moved into a leadership position, I've come to realize the difficulty of teaching.
In my second year, I became able to take initiative without waiting for instructions. Also, I gained new junior colleagues, and this time I was in a position to teach them. To be honest, teaching was more difficult than I had imagined. However, I don't like getting angry, so I tried to explain things as carefully as possible. In my third year, I was entrusted with cutting rebar in addition to bending it, and it was around this time that my workload increased and I became busier.
I worked for a Japanese company manufacturing motorcycle parts.
Returning to Niizuma Steel Industry, I experienced on-site work for the first time.
In 2019, I got married in my home country, which prompted me to decide to return to Japan. I rejoined Niizuma Steel Industry and started going to the construction site about three times a week. I hadn't forgotten Japanese, and I was able to start with simple tasks, so I was able to adapt to the work on site smoothly.
Having gained experience on large-scale projects, I overcame my fear of heights.
I've become able to work as part of the same team as my boss, understand the workflow, and provide support. I even got to work on a large project: the construction of a 24-story apartment building, where I challenged myself with working at heights. To be honest, when I first started working, I was afraid of heights and overwhelmed by the unfamiliar environment and the fast pace around me. However, as I gained more experience, my anxiety disappeared, and now I can handle working at heights without any problems. My hard work has given me confidence in my work.
I took the Level 1 Reinforcing bar construction Certified Skilled Worker exam in 2024 and passed successfully. Since the written exam was in Japanese, I used past exam questions and studied independently during breaks at work and after returning home. For the practical exam, with the support of my company, I practiced at the processing plant on days when there were no construction sites to hone my skills. Thanks to the cooperation of those around me, thorough preparation led to my success.
When we have the next day off, we gather in the dorm living room and spend time with our friends. We eat meals together, talk a lot, sing karaoke, watch movies, and have a great time.
A message from senior employee Ito
Mana enjoys the deep trust of her colleagues, with foremen saying things like, "We feel safe when Mana is on site." She also has a caring and kind personality; when a junior colleague asked for directions to a training course, she offered to accompany them, even though it was a Sunday and she had the day off. Her cautious and diligent nature led her to pass the first-class Reinforcing bar construction Certified Skilled Worker on her first try. In the dormitory, she is a model leader who takes care of her junior colleagues, earning the trust of those around her.
