What scared me was raw fish.
The first thing I packed when I decided to go to Japan was instant ramen. I had heard that Japanese people eat raw fish, which we don't usually eat, so I was very worried about whether there would be anything I could eat.
I met my current boyfriend at the sending agency, and we started dating.
Japanese civil engineering was different from that in Vietnam.
Before coming to Japan, I worked for a company in a similar industry in Vietnam for about three years. I was involved in Excavating work work at tunnel construction sites, so I had a general understanding of the current job. However, the tools used and the rules were different, so in that sense, it was a fresh start.
I wanted a car so I negotiated directly with the company.
As I got used to life in Japan and my Japanese improved, I naturally started to enjoy my work more. I was entrusted with large-scale projects, such as a 20-story apartment building, which increased my sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Around this time, I also wanted to get my driver's license, so I went to driving school and obtained it. Until then, I hadn't been interested in cars, but gradually I started to want my own. Since it was difficult to get a loan, I negotiated with the company to get the money for me initially, and I'm now paying it off monthly.
I finally bought the hybrid car I've always wanted!
I want to expand my field of activity as a craftsman!
My work has been going more and more smoothly. I believe that I am where I am today thanks to Mr. Wakabayashi, who taught me the ropes. He is a senior colleague who possesses top-level skills within the company and is strict but whom I respect. I learned everything from Mr. Wakabayashi, and that's why I am where I am today.
My personal life has also become more fulfilling, and I've been going for drives on weekends. I recently went to Kyoto and Osaka with my partner.
Applying for Specified Skilled Worker (ii) for the sake of dreams and family
My current goal is to become a Specified Skilled Worker (ii). My dream is to marry my boyfriend and live together in Japan, and he is also looking for a job in Kagawa Prefecture. Separately from that, I also want to build a house for my parents who live in Vietnam. To achieve that, I want to obtain a Class 1 Civil Engineering Construction Management Engineer qualification as soon as possible.
A message from senior employee Wakabayashi
From the moment he arrived, he was undoubtedly a hard worker, taking notes on anything he didn't understand and looking up unfamiliar words on his smartphone. Since he didn't speak the language, communication with him was naturally done through his smartphone, initially using translation apps. Now, he's operating heavy machinery and working as a key member of the team. It's truly moving.
