Don't miss this opportunity to go to Japan after the earthquake.

I was working as an employee at a company in the same industry in Vietnam, and I had always dreamed of going to Japan. In 2011, I finally had the chance to go to Japan, but then the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. At the time, many Vietnamese people hesitated to go to Japan, but I made the decision without hesitation.

FUTURE

FUTURE

I had studied a little Japanese, but it was almost useless, which made me anxious.

I learn the names of things by looking at what my senior picks up.

The biggest problem was remembering the names of the tools. When a senior colleague asked me to "bring me [tool name]," I would pretend to look for it, say "I can't find it," and then ask "Where is it?" and memorize the name of the tool they picked up. It might seem sneaky, but at the time, that was the only method I could think of.

I developed a family-like relationship with the Japanese employees.

Just as I was starting to get used to the Japanese way of working, I was transferred to the Funabashi branch in Chiba Prefecture. There, I was in a position to teach Vietnamese people, but I became very close with the Japanese people in the same branch, and we became like family. I was so happy about that that I asked the company to let me work in Chiba for nearly two years instead of the planned one year.

FUTURE

FUTURE

I worked for a company in Vietnam for about two years.

Because we're from the same hometown, we deliberately raise them strictly.

I wanted to work in Japan again, so I came back in 2016. I didn't have a driver's license yet, but I wasn't just doing support work; I was doing almost the same kind of work as an operator. I was also training junior staff and teaching them Japanese. I was pretty strict with them, thinking that it would be less shocking for them to be scolded by me, a fellow countryman, than by their Japanese seniors (laughs).

I took The Specified Skills (i) Evaluation Exam for Construction Industry for "Concrete pressure feeding" in the Construction Sector. I passed and obtained Specified Skilled Worker (i) residence status.

FUTURE

I want to expand my field of activity as a craftsman!

I passed the Level 1 Concrete pressure feeding Certificed Skilled Worker exam. Mr. Yumoto helped me a lot with my exam preparation, including preparing past exam questions.

I want to buy a house and a car in Japan. I also want to get married. That's why I want to become Specified Skilled Worker (ii) as soon as possible.

A message from senior employee Yumoto

HOANG is mostly on-site as an operator. He conducts meetings with the site supervisor in Japanese and handles the scheduling himself. He is also the de facto leader, teaching work procedures not only to foreigners but also to Japanese workers. He has acquired top-level skills within the company and is the first Vietnamese employee to be given the position of "Construction Manager." We look forward to his continued success.
