INTERVIEW

Instructor Introduction

Lecturer: Kiyokathu Watanabe

We asked instructor Watanabe about techniques for teaching foreigners and
We asked about the things they keep in mind.

Instructor (Facilities)
Kiyokathu Watanabe

The teaching method is very simple
Without using technical jargon
"Show them how to do it, then let them try it."

Most students who come to Tone-Numata Techno Academy have no prior experience in the construction industry. Even though they are Japanese, they don't know the technical terms or the names of the tools. In that respect, they are the same as foreigners. We don't give them special treatment just because they are foreigners; our basic teaching method is "show them and let them try." We explain the terms using simple words like "push," "pull," and "turn," and they gradually come to understand their meaning.

Actions that can lead to accidents include
Shout loudly and emphatically that it is dangerous.

When teaching foreigners who have just arrived in Japan, I believe it's extremely important to strongly communicate about actions and mistakes that can lead to accidents. This is because simply saying "be careful" gently when there's a language barrier won't convey the level of danger, and may even lead them to mistakenly believe they're doing something good. It's crucial to clearly and loudly state that bad behavior is bad.

Give them solid experience at the training site.
That is precisely a safety measure.

When you actually start working at the company, you'll encounter both kind and strict senior colleagues. Furthermore, once you're out on site, you'll be working in the same environment as other contractors. Because you'll be working and living in a group, I want to teach you about potential dangerous situations and how to express warnings. That's the safety measure I can offer.

Trainee Hau

How
(Vietnam)

My dream is to start a business in Vietnam.

I came to Japan with the goal of studying Japanese construction technology and starting a business in Vietnam. In Vietnam, even if you get a job at a construction company, there are very few opportunities to receive training. I was reminded once again that the Japanese construction industry is much better in terms of safety and training compared to Vietnam.

I want to learn a lot in Japan, a country with one of the world's highest levels of technological prowess!

A relative of mine has experience working for a Japanese construction company, and I've heard that Japanese people are kind and friendly. They also mentioned that the work is stable and that you're entrusted with a lot of responsibility. There's no doubt that Japan's technical capabilities are high on a global scale. I want to absorb as much as I can before returning home.

I want to support the lives of my family back home.

My reason for coming to Japan is that I wanted to earn a lot of money here and help support my family in Myanmar. Japan's technological prowess is well-known in Myanmar, and Japanese products such as cars and cameras are popular. I'm looking forward to working in Japan.

I resonate with the president's dream of "spreading Japanese technology to the world."

Host Companies hired me has also established a construction company in Myanmar. I was so happy when the president invited me during the interview, saying, "When you return to Japan, I want you to work for our company in Myanmar. Let's spread Japanese technology to the world together." The training can be challenging at times, but the instructors and senior staff encourage me, so I will do my best until the end.
