Interview Host Companies

Representative Director
Masaki Fujii

What was the most memorable thing about the hosting experience?

When I first visited Myanmar to interview potential candidates, I was shocked by the living conditions and lifestyle there. I was deeply impressed by the sight of children smiling and having fun despite their far from affluent circumstances. I sensed their determination to work with all their might, carrying the weight of their families on their shoulders. Since we were going to accept them, we couldn't do things half-heartedly. We decided that the entire company would support them.

What were the benefits of accepting it?

I feel that the Japanese staff working alongside them have also returned to a more fundamental approach to their work. Before their arrival, their attitude towards work was somewhat vague, but seeing the foreign staff's sincere dedication to each task inspired us to re-examine our own approach. I believe their presence played a significant role in the improvement in customer feedback.

What's the atmosphere like at work?

There's a strong sense of everyone working together as one team, without any distinction between Japanese and foreigners. We sometimes exchange opinions like, "Wouldn't it be better to do it this way?", and there are also times when we joke around, creating a friendly, relaxed, and harmonious atmosphere. I do have to be strict at times, but there are also foremen who step in to mediate, and I feel that the atmosphere is well maintained through a balance of rewards and punishments.

Accepting foreign talent is not easy, but I believe it's important to first focus on the "Shu" (守) part of the "Shu-Ha-Ri" (守破離) principle. By repeatedly teaching the basics, they will gradually become able to think and act on their own, and positive changes will emerge in the workplace and on-site. There will be challenges, but if you face them head-on, the rewards will be equally great.

Voices from those working on-site

We spoke to two Specified Skilled Worker who are employed by the company about their work and life in Japan, as well as their future goals.

Myanmar
NAY LIN
I want to reach a point where people will say, "I know NAY LIN can handle it," and entrust me with work!

NAY LIN is a craftswoman who hones her skills to the fullest. She initially struggled with using polite language, but now, seven years after starting work in Japan, she's so fluent that she's almost forgetting her native language. Her goal is "to work happily." To work in Japan for a long time, she is working towards obtaining Specified Skilled Worker (ⅱ), and she is also determined to "one day be active in my home country of Myanmar!"

FRENDY
I was surprised because it was completely different from the Japanese I learned in school...

"When I first came to Japan, I was anxious about starting a new job," said FRENDY. Having switched from a different industry, he was initially bewildered by the work content and the high safety standards, but with the enthusiastic support of his supervisor and NAY LIN, he gradually got used to the job. "I dream of starting my own company in my home country someday," he said, as he enjoyed the famous "8th Ramen" of the Hokuriku region.
