Representative Director
Ikki Fukuda

What were the reasons for deciding to accept them?

We had long faced the challenge of attracting young Japanese applicants to our job postings, but they didn't stay long or stay with us. Around 2018, before we started accepting foreign workers, we were also looking to expand our business, so we were desperate to find a way to attract more people. That's when we heard about accepting foreign workers from a competitor, and we decided to give it a try.

What were the benefits of accepting it?

Unfortunately, in our company's case, young Japanese employees tended to leave soon after joining. However, foreigners are determined to work hard in Japan, so the fact that we have less anxiety about them leaving quickly is a huge advantage.

What measures or precautions do you take after accepting them?

We give our Vietnamese and Indonesian employees a little advice to help them get along well with their Japanese seniors and the craftsmen on site. For example, common sense things like keeping their work clothes clean at all times and keeping their dorm rooms and work tools tidy. If they are messy, they will be seen as unhygienic and it will affect their work and daily life, so we pay close attention to these things.

Please send a message to companies planning to implement this system.

While many people are looking for ways to make money easily, our foreign employees approach their work with the attitude of, "We will work hard, and then we ask for compensation." I believe that Japanese people used to think the same way, and that this is a natural value. In today's world, where many people demand compensation first, their way of thinking is truly admirable. I hope you will work with them and experience the dedication that many Japanese people have forgotten.

Voices from those working on-site

We spoke with DUONG and NHAN, both from Vietnam and working as Specified Skilled Worker (i), and their senior colleague Okada, about their work and life in Japan, as well as their future goals.

If you've gone too far with a joke and made someone angry, the best thing to do is to smile and try to smooth things over (lol).

DUONG helps with the urethane spraying, is particularly close to the Japanese employees and they're always joking around with each other. "Sometimes I upset them, but I just laugh it off." What surprised him most when he came to Japan was the lack of motorcycles. "In Vietnam, people start riding motorcycles or driving cars once they become adults. I want to get my license in Japan as soon as possible." He told us that his current goal is to buy a car.

NHAN
Now that I've gotten my driver's license, I want to go on road trips!

NHAN, the first person to join the company, is a leader who has been entrusted with the role of foreman. Even so, she says she struggled to learn the job when she first joined. "I made a mistake in how to wrap the pipes. But my Japanese seniors didn't get angry and kindly taught me, which is why I am where I am today." She has already obtained a semi-medium-sized vehicle license and says she would like to travel by car in the future. "I would like to go to Sapporo and Okinawa!"

Senior employee
Takashi Okada
Nyan and DUONG are now trusted by everyone and are valuable mainstays of our company!

When Nyan and DUONG first joined the company, they were naturally inexperienced youngsters. So, as advice, I told them that some of the craftsmen are good at teaching, while others are not, and that they should "learn a lot from that person" and "if you don't understand something, it's better to say you don't understand." Now they have grown to the point where they are in a teaching position and have become valuable core members of our company.
