Representative Director
Yuji Hori

What were the reasons for deciding to accept them?

We began considering accepting foreign workers around 2017, as the number of new recruits decreased and older workers started leaving their jobs. However, when we looked at other companies, we saw that many foreign workers returned to their home countries after three years. While we were pondering this, we noticed that one of our partner companies had a worker who was thriving under Specified Skills and had grown to a level where he could work independently. That's what inspired us to cultivate talent like him.

What were the benefits of accepting it?

Currently, our first cohort of trainees is in their fifth year. They have not only reached the level I envisioned before accepting them—the ability to work independently—but have also acquired skills beyond my expectations. I am most pleased that they have grown to the point where they can complete tasks without my intervention.

What measures or precautions do you take after accepting them?

We've increased opportunities for them to gather, such as for meals. In these settings, they become more talkative and share more about their personal lives, so we get a better understanding of how they live. We've also assigned two people to provide support in their daily lives, creating an environment where they feel comfortable seeking advice. In particular, we absolutely do not want them to experience any unpleasant situations in their relationships, such as discrimination. We always try to remember that they are entrusted to us by their parents in their home country.

Please send a message to companies planning to implement this system.

I only know Indonesians, but they are all truly diligent and cheerful people. They never take time off work, they don't cheat, and they approach their work with dedication. That's why, now that we've accepted them, we want to nurture them carefully. If they want to study more and obtain qualifications, we will support them, and we also want them to aim for management positions. If possible, we would like other companies to also encourage them to take on the challenge of becoming Specified Skills Workers.

Voices from those working on-site

We spoke to three Indonesian employees of the company about their work and life in Japan, as well as their future goals.

YUNI
Thanks to the president, we were able to have a wonderful wedding ceremony.

YUNI is aiming to become Specified Skilled Worker (ⅱ), is studying every day for the exam. "I make sure to memorize one or two kanji characters using a smartphone app while I'm commuting on the train after work." YUNI is especially grateful to her boss, who readily agreed when she asked to return to Japan after getting married in 2023. "He even gave me a wedding gift, and we were able to have a wonderful ceremony."

ARDIAN
I want to acquire Japanese formwork techniques and contribute to the construction industry in my home country!

ARDIAN, who was working in the construction industry in Indonesia, decided to come to Japan because he wanted to learn Japanese technology and take it back to his home country. "When I first joined the company, I didn't know anything and was anxious, but I was happy that everyone at the company looked out for me." He has now completely adjusted to life in Japan and says he finds his work fulfilling. "The formwork is difficult because we make different things every time, but it's fun."

I was relieved to find that everyone at the company was kinder than they looked (lol).

EKO says she was very scared when she first met Japanese people at work. "They looked strict, but when I went to ask them a question, they answered me kindly, so the contrast was huge (laughs)." She was also surprised by the commuter trains in Japan, saying, "I was surprised at how many people there were." But now EKO can read train maps and can go anywhere by train.
