What were the reasons for deciding to accept them?

When considering the future of our company, one of our concerns was our lack of success in recruiting young talent. Hearing that the average age in Indonesia is in the 20s, we were genuinely drawn to that youthfulness and decided to accept Indonesian employees. The fact that Indonesia is a pro-Japanese country was also a reassuring factor.

What were the benefits of accepting it?

By teaching them the ropes, the Japanese employees have become more responsible. Their motivation has also increased, and everyone seems more energetic. Additionally, I've personally learned a little Indonesian from them, and I can now speak it a bit. In a way, they are my teachers.

What measures or precautions do you take after accepting them?

When we first welcomed the Indonesians, we tried to raise them by saying "we praise and correct everyone together." However, there was one time when we strongly reprimanded someone in front of everyone for not following the rules. It seemed to have a big impact on the person who was reprimanded, and their motivation dropped significantly, which was a big mistake. Now, when we need to correct someone, we always call them aside individually.

Some company presidents prefer to stay out of the field and not get involved. But I believe that going out into the field with them and having close conversations is the best way to build a relationship. Their way of speaking gradually becomes similar to mine, and when that happens, it becomes truly enjoyable to be around them. Of course, the first year or two after they arrive will be challenging in terms of training and daily life, but after that, I'm sure you'll find yourselves being helped by them more often.

LUTFIL
I'm so happy to be working in Japan, a country I've always admired, and I'm recharging my energy with the flavors of my home country!

It seems that many people in Indonesia dream of working in Japan, and LUTFIL was one of them. "Japan is a clean country where you don't find trash on the streets. I'm happy to be able to work in such a wonderful country." He works on a job assembling rebar, and what he looks forward to most is eating out on his days off. "I go to Indonesian restaurants in Shibuya and Shinjuku. They're delicious!"

HENDRA
I refresh myself on my days off by playing badminton, which is my hobby!

Before working at Moriya Rebar, HENDRA worked as an intern in Okinawa. Unfortunately, the other Indonesians who came to Japan with him soon returned home. "Living alone was lonely. But now I'm happy because I'm working with many people from my hometown." He also has badminton friends in the same area, and says, "I'm having fun because I'm making more Japanese friends!"

AGUS
I'm grateful to my senior colleagues who stayed with me until I learned the job.

Agus, who has been interested in the construction industry since his teens, came to Japan to learn the trade. He said with a smile that his senior colleagues at the company literally taught him everything step by step, saying, "They were really kind people who stuck with me until I learned the job." What surprised him most about Japan was the high cost of living. "Even eating out is expensive, with high prices and taxes. I wish it were a little cheaper (laughs)."
