FUTURE Before coming

I grew to love growing vegetables by helping my father.

I was born and raised in Angkor Wat, Cambodia, a popular tourist destination. My family runs a farm, and I helped my father grow vegetables from a young age. I still love being in the fields.

FUTURE Technical Intern Training Trainees (Years 1-3)

Improve your Japanese language skills in an environment where only Japanese people are present!

I spent three years as Technical Intern Training intern at a company in Wakayama Prefecture that leases and maintains heavy machinery. There was another Technical Intern Training intern from Cambodia at the same time, but he returned to Cambodia soon after, so I ended up working in an environment where everyone around me was Japanese. However, I believe that this experience helped me improve my Japanese language skills.

FUTURE Specified Skilled Worker 1st year

My first job was mowing the grass around the company: 1

The first task I was assigned after joining the company was mowing weeds around the company using a brush cutter. I started by learning simple tasks like that. Of all the things I learned during this period, the most important was safety training regarding heavy machinery.

FUTURE Specified Skilled Worker 1st year

My first job was mowing the grass around the company: 2

Our company often operates heavy machinery in dangerous locations such as mountains and rivers, where footing is poor. Therefore, we've been repeatedly taught the importance of ensuring safety. I was once strongly reprimanded for saying "I understand" when I didn't. Pretending to understand something you don't fully grasp increases the risk of accidents. Since then, if there's anything I don't understand, I always ask questions until I fully grasp it.

FUTURE Event

At the local festival "Takeakari" (Bamboo Lantern Festival) organized by a group company, I played the role of a ghost in the haunted house.

FUTURE Specified Skilled Worker 2nd year

Thanks to everyone's cooperation at the company, I successfully obtained my heavy equipment operator's license!

After I started working on-site, I decided to challenge myself to obtain a qualification for operating construction machinery. However, there were no Cambodian translations of the textbooks used in the training course, which was a problem for me. But then Chairman Oka, the president, my boss Ito, and the office staff all helped me by rewriting the kanji characters, which I struggled with, into hiragana. Thanks to them, I was able to successfully obtain the qualification.

FUTURE Specified Skilled Worker 3rd to 5th year

I want to expand my field of activity as a craftsman!

The difficulty level of the work has increased significantly, with projects such as constructing sediment control dams to prevent debris flows and building block walls on road slopes.

FUTURE Awards

In 2021, I was recognized as Recognition of Excellent Foreign Construction Workers.

FUTURE (Present)

I want to improve my technical skills and contribute to the company's success!

I love my current job, so I want to transition to Specified Skilled Worker (ii) as soon as possible and continue learning in this country. And one day, I aim to return to Cambodia and start my own company. When that time comes, I want to grow it into an attractive company, modeled directly after Oka Kogyo!

FUTURE Senior Employee Jun Ito
Director, Head of Civil Engineering Department
Jun Ito

A message from senior employee Ito

He's "more Japanese than the Japanese themselves." I've never seen Sinat sit down before his colleagues or superiors. Even during lunch breaks, he's reading a tattered Japanese dictionary he brought from Cambodia. He's incredibly diligent, hardworking, and considerate. He understands what he needs to do to learn his job and get along with those around him. Everyone in the company loves him for that.
