FUTURE Before coming

"I want to work in Japan!" I went to university with a clear dream.

Many people in Vietnam want to go to Japan to work, and I was one of them. I entered university with the clear goal of working in the Japanese construction industry after graduation, and I majored in architecture.

FUTURE's arrival in Japan (joining the company)

I'm glad I chose this company.

The reason I wanted to work for this company was because it's a well-known company with a long history in Japan. I figured that a company like that would have advanced technology and a different approach to work than other companies. I thought I could learn top-level knowledge and skills in Japan. As expected, working at Nippon Interior Equipment Industry has been wonderful. I feel that I've acquired considerable technical skills over the past few years.

FUTURE Technical Intern Training Trainees (Years 1-3)

My first time living abroad is full of anxieties...! :1

Although I studied architecture at university, I had zero knowledge of interior finishing (wallpapering). Every day I was on site, learning by watching and imitating my seniors. For the first year, I was mainly doing basic tasks like screwing in drywall and applying putty. In my second year, my skills improved, and I was entrusted with wallpapering, and I also started helping with the construction of walls and ceilings in large rooms where precision was required.

FUTURE Technical Intern Training Trainees (Years 1-3)

My first time living abroad is full of anxieties...! :2

During this time, I was greatly indebted to the craftsmen from our partner company. Whenever we were on site together, they would always give me advice and teach me the basics of wallpapering. Even when I made mistakes, they never raised their voices and always taught me gently and carefully. I am truly grateful to them, and they are the craftsmen I respect the most.

FUTURE Construction Workers (1st-2nd year)

Improve your Japanese language skills by participating in exchange events!

Wanting to improve my Japanese, I started attending exchange events with foreigners after work and on weekends. These events brought together people from the Philippines, Thailand, the United States, and Sri Lanka, and we were not allowed to speak our native languages. Only Japanese was permitted, so those with a strong desire to communicate improved their Japanese the most. I believe my current Japanese proficiency is largely due to the experiences I gained at these exchange events.

FUTURE (Present)

I want to start a global company with my friends!

Despite the growing demand in Vietnam's construction industry, there seems to be a shortage of wallpaper installers. Therefore, I'm planning to start a construction company in Vietnam, reaching out to friends in Japan and colleagues back home. My goal is to create a company comprised of various skilled craftsmen who have acquired their skills in Japan. I also want to expand internationally, so I'm working on improving my English skills. My dream is to build a global company!

FUTURE Senior Employee, Yuji Oguri
Director of Sales
Yuji Oguri

A message from senior employee Oguri-san

He's very focused and the type to steadily build up his work step by step. That's why I've never heard of him making any major mistakes. He also has the diligence to take on tasks that others dislike. Once, when I went to check on a construction site, I couldn't find THANH, so I called out, "Where are you?" and he popped his head out from the back of the narrow toilet and said, "I'm here." When you're trying to hang wallpaper in a cramped space, your hands and body can't fit, so it gets dirty and the work doesn't progress easily. But it's in those situations that he puts his body on the line and works hard, which is why I think he's growing into such a wonderful craftsman.
