I decided to work in Japan after hearing about the charms of Japan from my seniors.

When I was in high school, some older students who lived nearby went to Japan to work, and they told me, "Japan is a great place." So I decided to go to Japan after graduation. However, I had absolutely no experience in the construction industry, and I only learned what kind of work it was after I started attending a Japanese language school.

During the interview, the self-introduction I had practiced impressed President Yamanouchi, and I was successfully hired!

After approximately three months of training, they made their tense debut on the field.

Immediately after joining the company, I started by practicing simple tasks such as hammering nails in the processing plant. After about three months of training, I made my debut on the job site. My first job was at a nine-story apartment building in Kagoshima City, and I remember being very nervous.

I found more enjoyment than difficulty in being entrusted with the responsibility on my own.

In my second year, I was entrusted with assembly tasks that I had previously done with my Japanese senior colleagues. It was challenging, but I enjoyed it more because I could try out what I had learned in my first year. In my third year, I was given blueprints and entrusted with foundation work, and the difficulty of the work gradually increased. Around this time, I also started teaching the ropes to my Vietnamese junior colleagues.

The establishment of this system has made it possible to continue working in Japan.

I was in my fifth year as an intern and thought I would have to return to Vietnam the following year, but then Specified Skilled Worker System was created. I was so happy when I learned that I could continue working in Japan.

He met his wife at a cherry blossom viewing party organized by Registered Support Organizations (RSO), and they started dating. "I felt her kindness and thoughtfulness when she made me lunch on weekends, and that's when I decided to marry her."

Passed the Japanese language test and obtained the license! Vietnamese people went to the site alone.

The first thing I did after becoming Specified Skills was to get my driver's license. The practical test wasn't too difficult, but what I struggled with the most was the Japanese textbook. I could read hiragana, but I just couldn't read kanji. In the end, I failed the test twice, but I passed on my third try. I was very nervous the first time I drove my juniors to a construction site with only Vietnamese people. The craftsmen from other companies who were there were surprised and asked, "Aren't there any Japanese people?"

FUTURE

FUTURE

Since I've decided to continue working in Japan, my current goal is to buy a house here. My parents in Vietnam are also supportive, so I definitely want to make this happen.

FUTURE

FUTURE

I want to live in Japan permanently. I want my children to attend Japanese schools and learn both Vietnamese and Japanese.

A message from Yamanouchi-san

I have a special attachment to Ron, who was one of the first trainees. At the time, Specified Skilled Worker System didn't exist, so he had to return to Vietnam after three years, and we were even exploring ways for him to stay in Japan. I seriously considered asking the supervising organization to "adopt him" and have him become Yamanouchi Ron. But then it became possible to extend his stay as a trainee for five years, and just before he reached the five-year mark, Specified Skilled Worker System was established, so both he and I consider ourselves incredibly lucky.
